Akrotiri on the southern side of the island is the location of the Akrotiri Archeological Site. It's an ancient village, which was preserved after the volcanic eruption. You can combine it by visiting the Archeological Museum in Fira.

It Is approximately 10km. The footpath between the main towns Fira and Oia, is a rewarding trail because of the stunning views and great photo opportunities. This experience is not recommended in the hot summer months. The recommended time is during evenings so as to avoid the midday hot sun and make sure you are properly equipped with trekking shoes, sunscreen, a hat and a lot of water with you.
